Shanghai is one of the world's largest cities with the most severe water shortage. The per capita water resources are only 1/30 of the world average. With the rapid development of urban construction, the water supply during peak hours has approached the limit of the current water supply capacity of the group. To increase the relative water supply capacity and meet the city's demands, Shanghai Urban Investment Water Group has actively explored the control of water leakage and, after a comprehensive comparison of the strength of manufacturers and product performance, selected the electromagnetic water meters of Shanghai Kent. In the field of DMA construction in residential areas alone, more than a thousand electromagnetic water meters have been installed. After years of continuous governance, the cumulative leakage rate has decreased by 8.49%, with a contribution of 5.64% from the reduction in water loss. As the repair of water leaks continues to deepen, the results are becoming increasingly evident.

Since 2011, in response to the national call for urban water conservation, Wuxi Water Group has successively launched and implemented a series of measures to control water loss in the pipeline network. In 2015, it began to build the first-level metering zones for water distribution, and in 2016, to break through the bottleneck of the rebound in water loss rate after the cold wave, it gradually deepened the construction of the metering zone system, achieving full coverage of DMA zones. In the same year, it included the intelligent transformation of Wuxi's pump houses into the entire system. In the construction of metering zones and DMA, Wuxi Water Group has used over 1,300 Kent electromagnetic products. Over 90% of the flow data for the intelligent pump house construction and renovation is provided by Kent products. As one of the key cities for the management of water loss in public water supply networks, Wuxi Water Group has successfully reduced the water loss rate in its pipeline network to below 10.6% by 2022.

Since 2021, Tianjin Water Supply Group has been focusing on the construction of DMA in residential areas. To meet the requirements of DMA zone metering monitoring and management, including flow and pressure monitoring, wireless remote data transmission, and bidirectional metering functions, Tianjin Water Supply Group has selected and installed over 500 Kent electromagnetic water meters, built over 300 DMA residential areas, and completed the repair of 88 leakage points. This has led to a daily reduction of 23,000 cubic meters of water loss and a significant decrease in the leakage rate. The implementation of DMA management in residential areas has effectively prevented water waste, generated good economic benefits, and laid a foundation for the implementation of the zone metering management system.
